Christmas Music

I am cross-posting from my other blog - forgive me for the non-paleo related blog post:

So I know we are less than a week out from Thanksgiving, but everywhere you go people are playing Christmas Music and have their trees, lights and decorations up! So today I got the iPod warmed up for all the "Holiday" music and started to make my playlist. Have you come across Emmylou Harris' "Light of the Stable" or Kathy Mattea's Christmas album? They are both our favorites. I worried that you didn't include Vince Guaraldi until the end of your list...

I see you like Sinatra. For more swing, check out "Ella Wishes You a Swingin' Christmas" by Ella Fitzgerald. Her version of "Sleigh Ride" is a gem. For a new CD, try "Tony Bennett, A Swinging Christmas featuring the Count Basie Big Band." The track "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" is a lovely duet with his daughter.

Enjoy

Good one folks! Thanks! Weird Al is always a classic to have also. I need Adam Sandler's Hanukkah, not sure where that one went. I have one (at least) Trans-Siberian Orchestra song, just not sure what it is called. I will have to check out the Ella CD and the Tony Bennett one, I saw him on TV the other day promoting it.

Thanks for the tip! Keep them coming!

I am not a fan of Celine Dion but I do like her version of BLUE CHRISTMAS. Also, Vanessa William's jazzy rendition of WHAT CHILD IS THIS. One disk I play every year is ACOUSTIC CHRISTMAS which includes among others tracks by T.Bone Burnett, Laura Nyro, Shawn Colvin, Harry Connick, Jr., and my personal favorite Shellyan Orphan's ICE (kind of an anti-holidays song - at least that's my read on it).

I am a bit biased because I run the record label that brought this album out but 'An Indiecater Christmas' really is a nice new Christmas compilation. All 17 songs on it are original from some of the brightest new bands around.

www.indiecater.com has all the info.
