Stolen Content

I would like to point out that a blog called "The Lounge Forum.net" is stealing content from this blog, complete with my name and posting it on their blog. I have contacted the individual and have been ignored and have also contacted their server and have also still been ignored. I would like to point out that I am not affiliated with this blog nor do I know who owns it. I would love for them to knock it off and run their own damn blog and stop stealing my content.

Thanks to Callan for the heads up!

That's a drag. At least now, though, when you search the words you listed for the forum blog (which I didn't find), this post comes up second or very high!

Funny, but I wouldn't worry about it. Take it as a compliment!

That stinks, sorry to hear that.

I just learned this situation can be an automated thing, called 'leeches'. I've been told Wordpress has anti-leech tools, but I don't know about Blogger.

How awful! I took a look and am fuming on your behalf! I hope you can get the provider to shut it down!!

What can I do to help you correct this situation?. This is very troubling for me to read. I do enjoy your blog and feel you should have full control of your stuff. I hope this doesn't stop you from posting stuff.

I think it is more silly and ridiculous than anything. There are better blogs to steal content from. I guess its just irritating and annoying to get ripped off. I will not let it stop me from posting things. I need to get a post ready for tomorrow now that field work has started back up full swing. Thanks for all the comments everyone! I wish there was more we as a collective could do to stop this from happening, to anyone!

ReBecca, when you put a copyright symbol and your name at the bottom of your blog posts, that same copyright is copied into the leech blog - so at least your name is showing up there. You could always put a link back to your post at the bottom, so if anyone is reading at the other blog, they would be directed here. The only other option is a take-down order (I guess), and I don't know how easy or timely those things are (or costly).

SF - I noticed that also, which I thought was ironic. Maybe I will just make it a link to come back here. That will solve one of the problems. I am not sure how much a take down order would cost either. Their server is out of New Zealand I noticed so it may not even be successful.

ReBecca--

Maybe another option would be to start out your blog entries with a line such as "If you are reading this blog entry on The Lounge Forum.net then please be aware that it is content that has been STOLEN from Dinochick Blogs (link)".

If it really is being stolen by an automated "leech", then maybe it will cut down on traffic to the leech a bit, and perhaps discourage further theft. Especially if someone who really CAN do something about it reads your message.

Good luck!

Another good idea, thanks Howard!!

ReBecca, the site might be gone. I can't access it, and it reports a 404 error.

Excellent!! The same thing happens when I go there. Maybe their IP listened to my email after all.

Thanks for the heads up SF!!
