The object of the society is to advance the science of vertebrate paleontology and to serve the common interests and facilitate the cooperation of all persons concerned with the history, evolution, comparative anatomy, and taxonomy of vertebrate animals, as well as field occurrence, collection, and study of fossil vertebrates and the stratigraphy of the beds in which they are found. The society is also concerned with the conservation and preservation of fossil sites."<BR/><BR/>So basically it is a group of people that enjoy the same thing - paleontology. Every year we have a meeting where research is presented (formerly as a talk or printed poster with your research on it) and you have a chance to hang out with your fellow paleontologist. It is a great society to be a member of and their website has quite a bit of good information on it for people getting started off int he field. I was unable to attend SVP, but I donated a large photographic poster that I think ended up in the SVP Live Auction. I can see it rolled up on the table in some of the photos you've posted but never saw any photos of it being sold and was curious if you know who (if anyone) had purchased it or where it ended up. It was a rolled 12x36 photograph of a T-rex skeleton confronting a Triceratops skeleton and with their names along the bottom. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! <BR/><BR/>MDRMDRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00195396863494843533noreply@blogger.com
